Control Over Inventories

A reorder point should be established.  This is the minimum number of an item that should be kept before an order is placed.

A reorder quantity should be determined – how many will be ordered when the reorder point is reached?

Appropriate documentation should be kept as follows:

Readily accessible by authorised personnel

Similar items should be stored together

Physically secure - warehouse locked, burglar alarms, security staff

Documentation completed for movement of inventories

Preventative measures in retail stores

Insurance
